ABOUT THE ARTIST---
Fred
P. Budin was born, grew up, and educated in the heart of New York City.
He studied mechanical and free hand drawing in high school and then went
on to receive a degree in engineering.
At six years old the signs of his desire to express himself through art appeared
as drawings on all the blank pages of his parent’s encyclopedia.
All Artistic impulses were then immediately suppressed for about thirty
years, at which time he purchased a can of spray paint and canvas board.
He did a series of abstracts and then forgot them.
Many years later, when involved in a real estate transaction with an
artist, he showed his long hidden paintings, which received a favorable response
and an offer for art lessons.
After only one year of art training Fred’s paintings began appearing at art
shows/competitions. He has since won
awards at national and international exhibitions.
The “canvas” is of utmost importance to Fred.
He creates his own uneven surfaces by fusing various materials,
accumulated over the years, on a base of canvas, wood, or other flat surfaces.
This often-arduous process seems to spark his creativity.
Fred’s paintings begin at the center and grow quickly, often going
beyond the edge of the canvas. He
paints with sudden intense bursts of inspiration that can end as abruptly as
they begin. It is not unusual for
him to have many works in progress.
The subjects of Fred’s paintings are familiar things.
His work is straightforward and conveys basic emotions, which can be
enjoyed by everyone.
